The lab hosts a MALDI TOF TOF mass spectrometer for protein and peptide identification, a system  for 2D gel electrophoresis(isoelectric focusing , SDS PAGE, gel documentation system ) and a Western blotting system . In addition to nano- liquid chromatography for non-gel based facilities

  • Our mission…is to provide the environment and infrastructure required to support proteomics research as well as intellectual and technical expertise, and instrumentation for analysis of proteins and to interact closely with basic and clinical investigators to promote and facilitate translational research.

Vision of AFM Proteomics Lab :

  • Our vision…is to introduce proteomics science and techniques to the Egyptian scientific society and to become an internationally recognized center of excellence for proteomics studies. Our aim is to integrate researchers from different scientific fields from all over Egypt and to network with international centers.

The Proteomics Laboratory for Clinical and Translational Research is dedicated to the development of proteomic methods for disease diagnosis / prognosis and the identification of novel bio-signature and therapeutic candidate molecules of human disease. This approach additionally holds the potential for developing personalized medicine by defining the differences of each patient’s proteomic signature. This research will provide  molecular level insight which might be applied to overcome current clinical challenges.
